THE PALE WARDEN

(also called The Moon at the Gate, The Silent Shepherd, or The One Who Watches)

Lunăveghe is a moon-bound guardian of the dead, revered by grave-keepers, night sentries, executioners, and those who stand watch where the living and dead touch. She does not rule death itself—she guards its borders. In folklore terms, she is the force that ensures the strigoi stay in their graves.

The full moon strengthens the boundary between worlds . The new moon weakens it, and undead are more likely to rise. Graves disturbed under moonlight invite strigoi. Silver blessed under a full moon wards against revenants Lunăveghe’s followers often patrol hardest on moonless nights.

Worship & Rituals Common Practices

Lighting a single lantern at dusk in graveyards. Ringing a small bell three times at midnight. Tracing crescent symbols on tombstones with chalk or ash Festivals Noaptea Străjerilor (“Night of the Watchers”). Held on the longest night of the year—guards and priests stay awake until dawn to renew their vows.
